Role description:

Arcadis DPS Group is seeking experienced Low Voltage Systems Designer for our growing engineering team in Albany, NY. This individual will be an integral part of the engineering design group, working alongside our engineering managers, architects, and project managers in performing technical design and specification. The Low Voltage Systems Designer will work on the planning and implementation of Fire Alarm, Life Safety, IT, AV, Security, Access Control, and Public Address systems for various projects.  Experience in clean room, laboratories, advanced technology/semiconductor, biotech, pharma, or life sciences industries highly desirable.


Role accountabilities:
  • Prepare construction documents for Fire Alarm, Life Safety, IT, AV, Security, Access Control, and Public Address systems.
  • Perform construction administration and field work as required.
  • Follow and work to improve company standards for low voltage system designs.
  • Experience surveying and assessing existing buildings and associated low voltage systems to document existing conditions.
  • Experience in construction administration (submittals, RFIs, construction site observations and documentation).
  • Produce low voltage system engineering drawings in AutoCAD and/or Revit.
  • Edit and produce low voltage system reports and specifications.
  • Participate in team coordination activities with other disciplines, sub-contractors, and Clients.
  • Able and willing to wear personal protective equipment (PPE) including safety shoes, hard hats, safety glasses, fire retardant clothing, cut-resistant gloves, and other PPE as required per the requirements of clients’ safety policies when required.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications & Experience:
  • Minimum 5 years of experience creating construction documents for low voltage systems.
  • Experience in the design of Fire Alarm systems and knowledge of relevant codes.
  • Knowledge of IT infrastructure including horizontal cabling, telecom room design and pathways.
  • Knowledge of AV infrastructure for projectors, displays, sound systems, public address systems.
  • Experience with designing security systems including IP cameras, NVRs, and access control systems.
  • Hands on experience creating floor plans, wiring diagrams, rack elevations, and riser diagrams.
  • Takes ownership of assignments, can work both independently and as part of the team.
  • Ability to multitask on multiple projects and work independently.
  • Experienced in the use of AutoCAD and/or Revit to produce engineering drawings.
  • Working knowledge of National Electrical Code and International building codes.
  • Familiarity with AV/ Security and BIICSI standards.
  • Certification such as RCDD and CTS are highly desirable.
  • Strongly motivated, well organized, and shows professional initiative.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced and challenging environment.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills (English).
  • Local candidates preferred. Will entertain relocation for candidates with directly related experience.
  • Ability to provide valid work authorization for US employment.

We offer nine paid holidays and 15 days PTO that accrue per year. The Salary range for this position is $65,000 - $90,000. Salaries will vary and are based on several factors, such as experience, education, budget, internal equity, project and location.
